COVID-19 vaccines available for those age 5 years and older. What to know about scheduling
Children 5-11 years old are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Tennessee Department of Health vaccination plan.
Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is pleased to offer vaccine appointments for children meeting the state criteria. We are currently offering the Pfizer vaccine as it is the only vaccine approved for this age group.

As additional age groups become eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, Vanderbilt will administer vaccines to those groups through this process.
Vaccination for children ages 5-11 years will be given on the main campus in the Children’s Hospital Theater. Only children ages 5-11 years can receive a vaccine at this location.

What else you should know about your child’s vaccination:
Children 5-11 years old will receive the Pfizer vaccine. This vaccination requires two shots, with the second shot at least 21 days after the first. We will schedule your child’s second shot after getting the first shot at the same time and location.
Appointments will be available Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., for all children ages 5-11, even if they are not a current Vanderbilt patient. Children under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian with them for the vaccine administration.
We will have age-appropriate resources available at the site to help children who may be anxious or nervous. You can also use the “My Vaccine Plan” sheet to help prepare your child.
