A Reflection from a Parishoner, Search Committee Update, St. Mark
A Reflection from a Parishoner, Search Committee Update, St. Mark

While Christ Church is without a priest, individuals in our church family will be asked to contribute brief reflections to our monthly newsletter.

Parishoner Reflections

April 2021

Spring,...it is the spectacular season of rebirth and renewal, animals awaken and the earth comes alive! As our world emerges from a year of unparalleled uncertainty,  I reflect on the things that have sustained me personally throughout this time.  It is through faith, family, friends and the gifts of our natural world that I have found peace and comfort.

A Search Committee Update

from Pat Walmsley, Committee and Vestry Member

Christ Church,
The search committee convenes for zoom meetings every Tuesday. We have had two sessions with the diocesan personnel to discuss our progress, the timeline, and several of the required documents to submit prior to the announcement of the church’s vacancy. We received 94 online survey results and several written documents as well.  We will receive our analysis from the Holy Cow organization on March 30. We look forward to sharing this information with the congregation.
Four zoom meetings were held to gather more information from our congregation and to be available to answer any questions about the search process and to note attributes of interest in securing a new priest. An additional mailing will be distributed as well to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to share preferences.
Our immediate basic timeline:
April 13: Survey analysis report to Search Committee
April 13: Return of Additional Feedback from Congregation
Late-April: Vacancy Notice Published
Check back to the website homepage to receive updated information. We are committed to hearing from everyone so please send feedback, suggestions, and comments to us.

St. Mark, Evangelist

Our saint for April is St. Mark Evangelist.  He is credited with being the author of the Gospel according to  St. Mark.  He was born in 5 AD and became a travel companion and interpreter to Peter.  During their travels he wrote down the sermons that Peter preached, thus creating the Gospel according to St. Mark.  He founded the Church of Alexandria and eventually became the first Bishop of Alexandria.   In 68 AD, he was martyred by pagans of Alexandria who objected to the new religion.  His symbol is the winged lion, showing strength and courage.

What's Happening at
Christ Episcopal Church?

Please pray the Daily Office with us.  Lead by Heather and Ed Gallop, we pray nearly every day at 9, noon, and 5.  Sunday mornings are the exception as we offer Bible Study now at 9 and an in-person worship service in the church, with music at 10:30.  Links and instruction can be found on the homepage of our website.  While Bible Study is offered via zoom, all other offerings are on Facebook Live.  Loaves and Fishes continues to serve to-go meals to the community the first and third Wednesday of the month with a skeleton crew under the leadership of David Cole.  Your financial help is much appreciated. Links for all events are on the website homepage.  Although we are in a state of transition, activity remains strong.  Help the Search Committee represent you by sharing characteristics you would like to see in our next Rector.  Thanks to all!
