February 6, 2018 | A weekly publication of the National Speech & Debate Association

Dear Coach,

In case you missed it, we're celebrating Black History Month with a series of classroom and tournament resources created in partnership with Wiley College. View the collection at www.speechanddebate.org/black-history-month/ and enhance your next practice, classroom, or tournament experience during the month of February and beyond.

Last Chance to Recognize Student Service!

Tomorrow, February 7, is the last day to make a nomination for the Exemplary Student Service Award! This award will be given to a student who serves their school, community, city, state, or region using skills they honed through speech and debate. Nominate a member student of any age who upholds the highest standard of service, one of the core tenets of the Association’s Code of Honor, for recognition.

NSDA Board Candidates Make Their Case

This April, the National Speech & Debate Association will once again hold its biennial election, which will choose four directors to serve on the national Board of Directors for a four-year term. You can read the columns submitted by each of the thirteen candidates here. Each of these individuals would bring a unique perspective, suggestions for improvement and empowerment, and years of experience to the table.

Coach and Principal of the Year Awards

Nominate an outstanding coach or administrator at both the high school and middle school levels by April 6 for them to be considered for the following prestigious, national awards.
