Our students were privileged to hear the story of Holocaust survivor, Bluma Goldberg, who is also the grandmother of Jason Goldberg and the great-grandmother of Harry and Felix Goldberg. We thank Henry and Gloria Goldberg, Jason's parents, who came all the way from Columbia to share the details of her survival with us, as a way for us to commemorate Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day).
Mrs. Goldberg placed a lot of emphasis on the gratitude she feels to the American soldier who liberated her from Bergen-Belsen. It was very special when Ms. Cheatham shared with us that her father had also liberated Jewish prisoners from the concentration camps during World War II.
As meaningful as it was for our students to hear Mrs. Goldberg's story, the Goldbergs were equally moved to share their story with Jewish children at a Jewish Day School, as living proof that Hitler's plan failed.  Am Yisrael Chai, the Jewish people live on.
Middle School students have been learning about news broadcasting during their elective activity period.  They have worked hard and created their own news show called "The Projekt".  They wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the episode and presented it to the school before Passover break.  Thank you to Mr. McCallum for your hard work as the supervisor for this project.  Click on the video above to watch the episode!
Seven of our Middle School students attended the Lowcountry Science and Engineering Fair on Tuesday.  Students created a hypothesis and used the scientific method to test them.  They recorded their findings, created their projects, and presented them at the fair.  We are so proud of our students for representing our school so well.
Congratulations to Dina and Brit who placed 3rd in the bio-chemistry category!  Mazel tov to Haddassh who placed first in the chemistry category, 2nd overall in the Junior Division, and qualified to apply for the Broadcom MASTERS Competition.  Thank you to Mrs. Ragland for her hard work supervising the students and their projects.
