Supplement to Sermon Series

I've not been a fan of religious movies/video. I often find them to be distortions of what I find in the Bible and intellectually lacking.

Given the fact that we're about to start nearly a year on the subject of Jesus, I thought it might be worthwhile to let LifeSpringers know about a much-praised film series called the Chosen. Now in its fourth season, it is a creative and honest look at what the life of Jesus must have looked like.

It would be interesting and fun if LifeSpringers watched this "together" and shared it episodes. It's FREE to watch, and you can find the first episode online at this URL.

Ken Burns

You know Ken Burns because you've watched one or more of his wonderful documentary films about National Parks, Baseball, great leaders, the Holocaust, Country Music, and on and on. There is no one like him.

Brandeis University invited Ken Burns to be their commencement speaker and it has spread from there becoming a viral influence. Burns talks eloquently about our times, and it is extremely important to listen to sane voices like his.

I have placed this 21-minute gem as our Video of the Week, because I know it will make you a better person to listen to what he has to say and then act on it.

Wisdom from N.T. Wright

When I hear all the bilge that is being presented by those who want to characterize this world as hopeless and pointless, I like the reminder that Wright makes in this quote about our need to keep the gospel forefront.

"When we read the gospels, we must remind ourselves again and again (because of the pull of prevailing Western culture) that this is the story of how God's kingdom was established on earth as in heaven in and through the work of Jesus, fulfilling Israel's great story, defeating the power of evil, and launching God's new world." On Earth as in Heaven, page 172.
