Day on Hill 2019 Events

With the 111th General Assembly seated and the Lee administration underway, we are looking forward to Life Science Tennessee's annual Day on the Hill events. CO.LAB is now accepting applications through February 18 for the new HealthTech Accelerator. The mission of CO.LAB’s HealthTech Accelerator is to advance innovation in the healthcare industry by connecting promising startups with leading legacy healthcare organizations in the Chattanooga region.

As a collaboration with Erlanger (the nation’s 10th-largest public healthcare system) and Unum (a Fortune 500 insurance company), startups have the unique opportunity to work closely with industry leaders in healthcare and the insurance market. Through an intensive 10-week program, companies will accelerate progress by building strategic relationships, validating assumptions, pursuing strategic capital and expanding capacity.

Application Period: January 7 - February 18, 2019
Program Launch: April 1, 2019

Ideal candidates for the HealthTech Accelerator have:

A team of qualified individuals committed to the long-term success of the venture
A drive to establish critical industry partnerships, gain valuable data and scale
MVP product or service in one, but not limited to, of the following areas:
- Patient Management, Medical Devices, Digital Health, Virtual Care/Telehealth, Billing Management
- Revenue Cycle, Supply Chain Management, Workforce Optimization, Care Delivery Models

These 10 VC Firms Made The Most Investments In Healthcare Startups This Year

To those who have been following the space, it’s no surprise that 2018 has been a record year for venture capital investing in healthcare. With $28.8 billion raised through the end of November (and big deals like the $400 million Series C raised by Relay Therapeutics last week) startups in the sector have raised more money this year than any year before in the last 10 years that VC funding database Pitchbook has tracked investments in the space.

Health systems fire up business incubators

Health systems need not have their own programs to get in on the incubator game, though. They can also work with independent incubators not directly affiliated with hospitals. But the benefits of incubators explicitly tied to health systems run in all directions. The system gets early access to new technology, as well as potential financial returns. The startup gets a place to try out its new technology. And patients get access to new care models.

Organizations from or affiliated with the medtech industry are welcome to submit session ideas dealing with the latest trends, advancements and critical issues in our field. This is a unique opportunity for start-ups and emerging growth medical technology companies to gain access to industry leaders. BIO Start-up Stadium

Where: Philadelphia, PA

When: June 3-6, 2019

The Start-Up Stadium was designed to provide start-up companies with the opportunity to engage key members of the investment community, venture philanthropy groups, and BIO attendees. This area in the BIO Exhibition provides an exciting and interactive experience where investors provide live feedback and judge six-minute pitches presented by start-up biotech companies. Selected companies get discounted registration that also includes one-on-one partnering.
