Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Approves Global Villages Revitalization Implementation Plan

GPCID is excited to announce that on Tuesday, February 28, the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners officially approved the Gwinnett Place Mall Revitalization Strategy to transform the site into Global Villages. We are thankful to the county leadership for embracing the vision developed from the extensive study and supporting a future of prosperity and vibrancy for our community.

Global Villages was the result of significant economic and market studies as well as community feedback from more than 3,000 community members at in-person outreach events throughout the county as well as 3,624 online interactions.

The resulting Global Villages is predominantly residential with modest amounts of new retail and office with an international culture and community center and central park space at the core. The design includes:
  • Residential: 2,700 – 3,800 new units
  • Retail (new): 55,000 square feet (SF)
  • Commercial (office): 50,000 SF
  • Cultural center: 50,000 SF
  • Parks: 15.7 acres

State of the County Address

At the beginning of March, the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and Council for Quality Growth held the 2023 State of the County event at 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson delivered an address discussing the county’s 2022 accomplishments and encouraged all citizens to lead with intention. The Chairwoman closed her 2023 State of the County address with these words:

“To serve with intention is to be thoughtful, purposeful, and deliberate in the things that we do and to ensure today’s decisions build toward tomorrow’s solutions […] Today — this very moment — is the time to affirm that you will serve with intention.”

GPCID is optimistic for what the future holds and is excited to serve with intention to support a flourishing business community and vibrant future within our district.

B2 Anywhere with Gwinnett County Community Services

Gwinnett County’s Building Brains (B2) Anywhere program is one of the many ways our county supports the health and well-being of residents. These programs provide children and their caregivers opportunities to learn, play and grow through various activities and themed programs such as Donate A Book or Imagine That!, which promote literacy, or Dino Town, which provides learning opportunities in a safe and interactive environment.

B2 Anywhere is, as the name suggests, anywhere in the county, including in the Gwinnett Place area at Shorty Howell Park. View the online schedule to learn about the next event happening near you!
