Graduating students at commencement
   MEAN GREEN GRADUATES
We’re so proud of our graduates! Be sure to read the stories of this semester's Great Grads. They're a small sample of all the students who impress and inspire us every day.
If you’re a fall graduate and still need your cap and gown, the UNT Barnes and Noble bookstore (located on the first floor of the University Union) has regalia you can purchase in store through Saturday, Dec. 16. Visit them as soon as possible to secure your size. If you’re a low-income, first-gen or DACA fall graduate, you may qualify for the Mean Green Gowns for Grads program. See if you’re eligible and apply by tomorrow, Dec. 7, to borrow a cap and gown.
Explore the commencement checklist to make sure you’re prepared and ready to cross the stage next week!

   COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING STUDENTS
In case you missed it, President Smatresk released an official notice on Dec. 1 about UNT’s steps to support students while complying with Senate Bill 17, which prohibits Texas state universities from having Diversity, Equity and Inclusion offices; from having employees or third-party agencies who perform the duties of a DEI office; and from engaging in certain activities related to DEI.
A new structure incorporating the staff and future work of the Multicultural Center and Pride Alliance into the student engagement area of Student Affairs ensures the university continues to best serve students.
“We will continue our focus on being Better Together, because helping students succeed has always been a hallmark of the UNT educational experience,” President Smatresk says.

   MEDIA LIBRARY MOVING
The Media Library is moving to its new home on the second floor of Willis Library and will officially close its doors in Chilton Hall at noon Friday, Dec. 8, with limited services resuming in Willis on Tuesday, Jan. 2, until the official reopening. Between Dec. 8 and Jan. 2, Media Library services such as checking out materials, holds, bookings, course reserves and reservations will be paused.
Today, Dec. 6, is the last day to make requests for media materials to avoid processing delays. Email media.library@unt.edu if you have any questions or concerns. The new Media Library and Media Services desk will reopen in Willis on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

   EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) have been located across campus for some time to help in a cardiac emergency. Now, each AED cabinet is being stocked with Naloxone, which blocks opioid reception to the brain. This proactive measure is a preventive step, reinforcing our commitment to creating a secure environment for everyone at our university.
Always remember to call 911 in an emergency. Download the Mean Green Ready app for AED locations and safety tips!
