Welcome to UTA, Mavericks!
We’re kicking off another fall semester at the best university around—and I don’t mean just in our humble opinion. (Seriously, you can see the proof here and here.)
More students than ever want to be here, whether they’re living on campus or driving in from near and far. That’s because we’re No. 1 in DFW for best salaries, least debt, and social mobility for our graduates. We’re also No. 1 among UT System universities for highest first-year median earnings. One of the best decisions you’ll ever make is coming to UTA.
This year brings exciting change. You should check out Maverick Hall, our newest and largest residence hall, which is now open on the west side of campus for more than 650 students. And work continues on our Life Sciences Building, which will complete the transformation of the south part of our campus into a health sciences hub.
Campus growth like this is great because it’s about more than new walls and windows—it’s about the education, opportunities, and connections that grow with it. That’s what makes this place special and why so many people want to be here.
Some of your best memories will happen outside the classroom. Go to events, join clubs, try things that sound fun (or even a little outside your comfort zone). The more you show up, the more you’ll get out of your time here. The Maverick Stampede events calendar can help you identify some fun events to start the semester.
There are three close to my heart. The first is MavsMeet Kickoff 2025 tonight at College Park Center. The second is Activity Fair Day on Aug. 27 at Brazos Park and the UC and Library malls. There are hundreds of clubs you can join, and that is your chance to learn about them. And the third is our Birthday Bash at Brazos Park, a celebration of our 130th anniversary as a University, on Sept. 5. Mark your calendars, set alarms, or better yet, use the MyUTA app—whatever you need to do. I hope to see you there.
So drink plenty of water, cheer each other on, stay cool (literally), and make this semester count. We’re glad you’re here. And if you’re new, welcome to UTA and the Maverick family.
