Changes to Adult OR Drug Tray
The QMMI committee in conjunction with the pharmacy is making a change to the layout of the adult OR drug trays.  The change is to separate boxed epinephrine from boxed calcium in an effort to reduce the risk of an incorrect medication error.  Photos of the new layout are shown below. Implementation will begin over the weekend through the middle of next week (April 6th). Contact Paul St. Jacques for questions.

Writing Orders for Oral Medication
When writing for PO meds at the time of surgery, specifically for first cases, please make sure orders are written 30 minutes prior to case start (7:00 AM M/T/Th, 7:30 AM W/F).  After this time, you will be required to go through pharmacy or personally to the AcuDose for any PO meds and hand-deliver them to the patient.
In cases where you cannot be at the bedside personally to take care of this, and there is no resident on the case, other arrangements may need to be made. Please either ask the overnight resident or another faculty member for help writing the orders or enter the orders in Wiz.
Medications can be given at any time. We simply ask that handwritten orders for PO meds be written prior to 30 minutes before case start time. Please contact Patrick Henson for more information.
Concur Reimbursement
Attention: Faculty and CRNAs: Due to the impending VU/VUMC split and delays in expense processing, please immediately inform your division Administrative Assistant when you submit a Concur reimbursement request to help ensure timely processing.
