Badger Dairy Camp returns to UW-Madison in July
The Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences and the Dairy Innovation Hub are excited to
announce the return of Badger Dairy Camp to the University of Wisconsin campus from July 9-12, 2026. The goal of this program is to educate youth about the breadth of areas that contribute to Wisconsin's dairy industry and the higher education and career opportunities available. The program includes hands-on workshops, tours, and recreational activities for youth ages 12-17 as of January 1, 2026.
Faculty and dairy industry leaders in land and water stewardship, animal health and welfare, human health and nutrition, farm business and community, and linear evaluations and dairy judging will lead the hands-on workshops. College preparation workshops will be tailored to the camper’s current grade level in collaboration with CALS. Youth will network with peers, current students, and faculty through recreational campus activities, including volleyball, bowling, and a bonfire at Picnic Point.
Campers will have the full student experience, staying and dining at the Dejope Residence Hall (double occupancy; roommate requests available). The camper registration fee of $175 covers approximately half of the program expenses, including the dormitory, meals, and recreational activities. The remainder is funded by grants and industry sponsorships.
Applications will open at the beginning of April. The camp is limited to 100 campers, and applicants will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. A mailing list for applications and more information about the camp is available at https://andysci.wisc.edu/badger-dairy-camp/. You can also contact Megan Lauber directly at (262) 902-3156 or badgerdairycamp@ansci@wisc.edu.
