Dear Valued ATMIA members,
The Asia Pacific Government Relations Committee (GRC) continues to work with key industry stakeholders to ensure our members are well informed of any industry changes.
Last month our GRC teleconference, chaired by respected industry leader Gavin Napier, incorporated an update from the on the Next Generation Banknote. ATMIA will continue to keep in close engagement with the RBA  to ensure industry is ready for these changes. ATMIA will be meeting with delegates from the RBA  in September for a progress report and members will be kept informed of any developments in due course.
A meeting with Darren Flood from the RBA has been scheduled for October to discuss the RBAs response to ATMIAs Industry Position Paper on not supporting external disclosure of fees at ATMs in Australia click here to read. Members will be notified of the outcome from this meeting at the next GRC teleconference
At present the criminal activity to ATMs in Australia remains low and stable, this positive sign reiterates how industry has taken the necessary precautions to ensure that have a high level of security and are less appealing to the criminals. ATMIA receives regular updates of criminal activity from the NSW Police Property Crime Squad and again we remind members to utilise the 1800 number (set by the NSW Police Property Crime Squad) immediately after multiple alarm activation is detected at an site.  Please let me know if you would like me to resend these details to you.
It gives me great pleasure to welcome the following new members to the Asia Pacific region.
  • Bank of Queensland
  • Standard Chartered Bank
I welcome any referrals for potential members as it's important that the industry continues to contribute to the growth of the Association, so that we may continue to be the strong unified voice of the Industry as we always have, and will continue to be.

ATM Benchmarking Study for 2015
ATMIA is now in the process of oganising the third round of its respected global ATM Benchmarking study for 2015. This exercise follows the successful two previous rounds of international benchmarking in 2011-12 and 2013-14 respectively. It will build on the strong initial uptake with over forty six top tier ATM operators - both banks and independent deployers participating. The study builds on the experience of the previous round and is designed to focus on critical areas of the ATM value chain showing significant variance in effectiveness, revenue and cost performance.  https://www.atmia.com/education/global-atm-benchmarking/
SWOT Analysis of the ATM Industry – Join the Conversation

ATMIA has set up an industry radar to track the industry’s current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The goal of this SWOT analysis is to alert the association to issues which may need addressing or opportunities which may need reinforcing. Your views are a valuable “inside” look at what’s currently happening.

Current Conversation: Strengths for the Industry. We all know cash is king and this holds true on the strength SWOT analysis board. Several list cash is a true strength for the industry. This strength is supported by our recent Global Cash Demand Study. What are other current strengths for the ATM industry? ATMIA Committees
As our ATM world changes due to reasons such as IT,  hardware, regulatory, fraud, operator changes, etc. ATMIA is continually ramping up or winding down committees as necessary to keep its members well informed of impending changes. Committees are made up of a cross section of  members and subject matter experts. The work effort on behalf of committee members is minimal but of high caliber. Please take a look at the existing working committees to see if you are interested in becoming involved to guide change.  .https://www.atmia.com/committees/
Next Generation ATM Architecture Committee
Are you interested in joining ATMIA’s new Next Generation ATM Architecture Committee? This committee meets to share next generation projects in the industry, pilots and case studies in order to encourage innovation. It is an interesting and stimulating forum for exploring evolving software, hardware and network architecture in the ATM industry. Please drop Mike Lee a line at mike@atmia.com if you wish to join.
The ATM Industry Association has announced that it has created a new level of membership specifically for financial institutions.  Although FIs have always been an important segment of the membership, this new level combines selected benefits into a package that ATMIA expects to be of particular interest to banks and credit unions of all sizes.
“ATMIA supports the professionalism of ATM deployers primarily because they take care of the customer touchpoint. The association is proud to announce a customized membership package for Financial Institutions to cater to their unique needs as ATM deployers in a demanding marketplace. Banks and credit unions are likely to find the package of benefits we’re offering both useful and educational,” says ATMIA CEO, Mike Lee.
One of the objectives of the new level is to allow for more individual members, which means that numerous FI departments can now become fully engaged in ATMIA activities and resources.  Committee groups and Best Practices address ATM-related issues and processes for security, risk management, business development, and compliance, as well as operations.  Financial Institution Members may also designate one representative to participate in their Regional Advisory Board.
“With a growing group of over 90 banks and other organisations amongst our existing members already qualifying for this new category, the ATMIA can rightly claim to represent the whole ATM industry, including Financial Institutions", says Ron Delnevo, ATMIA Europe Executive Director.
Sharon Lane, Global Director, Finance and Member Services noted that “New benefits are being introduced for the Financial Institution membership level that will be attractive to banks and credit unions globally; including one free course from the ATMIA Academy certified on-line education program.  ATMIA members also gain from the support and knowledge of other members through their membership.”
More information about Financial Institution Membership is available on ATMIA’s website, as well as from the Executive Director of each ATMIA Region.
