THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! We are so grateful for our Normal Park community coming together to celebrate SPARK week. We appreciate every donation made, every hour volunteered, and every family member for attending our events last week. We are so lucky to work at Normal Park and to have such great commitment from our families. Thank you for helping us reach our goal of $30,000 raised!
I want to share two staffing changes that have happened this past week. First, our Upper School librarian has resigned. We are working to hire someone for this position. If you are a certified media specialist or know of someone who is, please reach out if there is interest in coming to work here. We would love to talk with you and find a way to continue to have our library, STEAM, and yearbook classes for students. We appreciate Normal Park parent, Katie Sallee for subbing in the meantime. Second, Hamilton County Schools uses a staffing model that is based on enrollment, percent of students in poverty, and state guidelines. These numbers are projected in spring and then reviewed on the 10th day and 20th day of school. On Wednesday, Normal Park Museum Magnet was reduced one teaching position which was effective Friday. Our Dean of Students position is the one that has been cut in order to not directly impact classrooms and move students around. Dr. Oliver will be moving to another school to serve in the Dean of Students role. We know he will do great things there and they are lucky to have him. If you would like to know more about the staffing model and how these cuts impact our campus, it is something we will discuss during the Principal Coffee on Tuesday.
This week we will have our first Principal Coffee. We invite anyone to join. Click here to volunteer. This is an opportunity to hear from school administration on specific topics and for families to give input into our school action and improvement plan. This session will focus on school safety and ways parents can advocate for their student and our school. This session will be hosted at the Lower School campus but is open to families from either campus. See you Tuesday at 8:30. Future Principal Coffee sessions will be January 17 and March 8.
We appreciate all the hard work our students have and will put into selling coupon books. Remember $7 of every coupon book sold stays right here at NPMM! Our goal is to sell 1,800 books so every coupon book sold will make a difference. If we reach our goal, the whole student body will celebrate with an ice cream party.

Hamilton County Schools Student Well-being Surveys will begin Monday, September 19th - October 7th for all K-12 students. For more information about the survey or to review the questions, click here. If parents would like to opt-out of this survey, they should complete the opt-out form located in PowerSchool by Wednesday, September 14th. To access this form, log into your PowerSchool Parent Portal account online or through the PowerSchool application on your phone and complete the “Student Survey Opt-Out Form” for your student. Alternatively, parents can print and send this paper opt-out form to the school’s office as notice by Wednesday, September 14th. Paper copies can be accessed here
Learning Expediton Shirts ordered during the online sale should be delivered to your students backpack this week. The Lightning Athletic Club will host a Fall sale after Fall Break.

Coupon Book Sale Sept.9 - Sept. 26
How to order books?
1. To purchase online or to use a credit card for $10 (plus for online orders a 4% online fee and a one-time .35 transaction fee): click here Kids First Coupon Books link or from the Normal Park website (Resources. Online School Payments) and order as many books as you like. Use the description box to note students' full name, grade, and homeroom teacher.
2. To purchase via cash or check for $10: please visit the office on either campus. Do not send money in student folders. You must pick up for the office on either campus.
3. We encourage all families to launch an online social media campaign rather than a door to door outside sales approach.
4. Wait for the distribution dates and check the student's backpack for delivery.
5. Safely deliver your coupon books.
6. Order more!
7. Celebrate a successful campaign on Friday, October 7th. Sell five coupon books and participate in the Silly String Party to spray our Principals and Staff. Sell three coupon books and earn a PopIt Fidget keychain. Sell one coupon book and win a chance to spin the prize wheel.
Distribution days: Tuesdays and Fridays during the weeks of September 9th-26th. Books will be bagged and placed in your student’s backpack.
Remember coupon books go on sale tomorrow. You can preorder tonight and the books will come home tomorrow! NP keeps $7 of every book sold. Thanks for the support.

The third graders at Normal Park need your help! We are sponsoring a book drive to benefit the children at Northside Neighborhood House September 12 - October 5! Please bring any new or gently used books to school. A bin is located in the 3rd grade hallway. We will donate all books on October 5! Thank you for your help!
Our goal is to have 1.2 million minutes read this school year! Students who complete their reading logs and turn them in will have their names entered into a grade level drawing for monthly prizes. Click on the link below and fill out the Google form each week to log your student’s reading minutes.

Scottish Rite Shoe DistributionThe Scottish Rite is holding their annual shoe distribution event this month. Shoes and socks are provided free of charge for PreK-Middle School students in Hamilton County.

Guitar Tuning with Mrs. McKee: Thank you all for responding to my request for help with the guitars! Having multiple volunteers is fantastic because the guitars get used a bunch during the week and the Jasmines get out of tune really quickly. The guitars aren't used from 8:00-11:00, and 1:35-2:15 each day, so coming during those times or after school would be best.

Gear up and let’s get climbing! The 2022-23 Climbing season is almost upon us. Normal Park will be climbing hard to win our fourth league championship in a row. Practices will start in October after fall break and the competition season runs November through January. The team is open to boys and girls and meets twice per week at Highpoint Climbing and Fitness. Students on their school’s team are eligible for a reduced student monthly membership rate of $58. If your middle school student (grades 6-8) is interested in joining the climbing team or if you have any questions, please contact Coach Brian Fahey fahey_b@hcde.org.
