Meet 4-H Alumni President Joe Huffine


Huffine has three major goals he hopes to achieve during his term.

First, he wants to focus on the large number of former 4-H’ers in Tennessee and bring many more of them into the alumni organization. Second, he wants to continue to find ways that 4-H alumni can contribute through underwriting or other support to current 4-H activities. Third, he says 4-H alumni must provide reasons for current alumni to stay involved. Growth and retention are critical.

Mattie Smith Advocates for Agriculture in D.C.
In March of 2024, Smith, a fifth-generation farmer who is studying agricultural communications at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, shared her memories and her strong opinions about the importance of family farming with 4-H youth and administrators, other agricultural leaders, and members of Congress as part of National Agriculture Week.
Smith belongs to the youngest of three generations on Bratcher Family Farms who currently reside on the farm her great-great-grandfather started decades ago. Together, they raise Black Angus beef cattle and hay on 400 acres.
