Graduate Assistantship Orientation |
A warm welcome to our new graduate assistants! The Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships (OGSAF) is hosting an orientation for new graduate assistants to connect with each other, learn more about assistantship policies and benefits, and ask questions about their upcoming appointments.
OGSAF is hosting two orientation event options; one in person and one online. The content will be the same at both events so we recommend students only attend one session.
Please note that this session is geared toward students who have already been assigned a graduate assistantship for the Fall 2025 semester.
Light snacks and GW swag will be provided for the in person orientation event.
|
- IN PERSON: Friday, August 29th from 2:30-4:30pm in the University Student Center, Grand Ballroom

Frequently Asked Questions |

Q: How do I obtain an assistantship position?
A: All assistantships are managed directly by departments, so we recommend reaching out to your department or program director to learn about position availability. You can find contact information for your department on their website.
Q: Whom do I contact with questions about my current funding award?
A: Most awards are administered directly by your school or department rather than OGSAF. Please check your award letter and reach out to the contact person listed with any questions. The contact person is usually listed in one of the last paragraphs of the award letter.
Q: Whom do I contact with questions about my bill (i.e. how to pay, refund requests, setting up a payment plan, etc.)?
A: Please contact the Student Accounts Office for all billing-related inquiries.
Q: Whom do I contact with questions about loan opportunities?
A: Please contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance for all loan-related inquiries. MD and Physician Assistant candidates should contact their respective financial aid office.
