COVID-19 Update
November 09, 2020  •   coronavirus.uoregon.edu

What You Need to Know

  • Gov. Kate Brown has ordered five counties, including Multnomah County, to take a two-week pause starting November 11 that includes additional safety measures such as encouraging remote work to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The changes do not directly impact UO Eugene campus operations.
  • COVID-19 testing slots are available to all UO employees and students on a first-come-first-served basis this week in Eugene, November 10-13. Offered through UO’s Monitoring and Assessment Program (MAP), testing is free. The test is a self-collected, shallow nasal swap, not the more invasive deep nasal swab. Pre-registration is required via the MAP Registration Portal. Additional opportunities will be offered later this fall.
Why should you wear a mask?
  • Protect others: 40% of people with COVID-19 have no symptoms. Without a mask, you could accidentally infect your friends.
  • Protect yourself: 1 in 5 previously healthy 18-34 year olds still felt sick weeks after testing positive for COVID-19. Wearing a mask reduces your risk of severe symptoms.

Featured FAQ

Will there be changes to the 2020 winter term schedule?
We will continue primarily remote and online instruction for the winter term.
In limited circumstances, such as with some labs, studio experiences, and other small classes, we will provide in-person instruction, in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
All of our students will have access to remote and in-person services, programs, and activities in places such as the libraries, Erb Memorial Union, and Student Rec Center, where strategies are in place to keep our community safe. There are plenty of quiet, supportive study spaces and on-campus Wi-Fi.
