Dear Colleague,

360 Degree VR Tours

Training has long been considered the backbone of the union construction industry. To emphasize that point, the LIUNA training centers in California taught 37,722 students and conducted nearly 600,000 hour of training in 2018.
While LIUNA takes great pride in its training programs, others may not have had the opportunity to visit a training center. Contractors, owners, awarding agencies, and others should be able to witness the professionalism, resources, and capabilities of the LIUNA training facilities. While it would be great if everyone could visit a training facility in person, we realize that's just not possible. However, now anyone can visit a training center - from the convenience of their computer or smartphone.
LECET Southwest recently created 360 degree virtual reality tours of the LIUNA training centers in Azusa and San Ramon. Click on one of the images below to start your tour!

The Mike Quevedo, Jr. Laborers Training School

Click on the image to "step inside" the Azusa campus of the Laborers' Training and Retraining Trust of Southern California. Relocated from Anza to Azusa in 2003, The Laborers Training School sets a high standard for excellence by receiving independent, third party accreditation as a training agency (AC 371), requiring instructors to become credentialed through the State, and continually updating curriculum offerings. Terence J. O'Sullivan Laborers Training Center

Established in 1966, the Laborers' Training and Retraining Trust for Northern California is the oldest training center in the LIUNA network. Set on 300 acres in the tri-valley area the Laborers Training Center offers multiple training yards, dormitories for students, and instructors that participate in a multiyear certification program through ANSI. LIUNA Local 185 Career Days

The workforce shortage is impacting the construction industry incredibly hard. In fact, a 2018 construction association survey found that 62 percent of California contractors are struggling to fill both salaried and craft worker positions.
Not only do contractors need men and women to fill traditional construction roles, but the incredible man-power requirements for wildfire clean-ups has made the situation even worse in some areas. Well, LIUNA is determined to meet the workforce demands. Recently, LIUNA Local 185, in partnership with more than 20 contractors, hosted construction career day events in Oroville and Redding in March. The two events received great participation from the public. Nearly 400 turned out for the Oroville assembly while 188 showed up for the Redding career fair.
Similar career day events were hosted by several LIUNA Locals in 2018 as well. And more may be coming later this year.
