It's almost time to party!

We hope you will join us at 4:30 p.m. Friday for a BBQ and a Bash!

We will be celebrating the end of the school year with food, fun and fellowship.

There will be bouncy houses and games for the kids, great food and fellowship for the adults, and a massive 50% off clearance sale on all swag items. Everything must go!

This event is free and there is no need to RSVP. Just bring a hungry stomach and be ready to celebrate the end of the year with us.

Lions shine at state track and field

It was a banner weekend for the Sound Christian Academy boys and girls track and field teams at the Class 1B State Track and Field Championships in Yakima this weekend.

Junior Emara Henderson tied for second place in the discus with a throw of 108 feet, 7 inches.

The boys 4x400-meter relay team ran a personal best time of 3 minutes, 35.96 seconds to take second place. The team was made up of juniors Jadon Simpson and Ben Braun, and sophomores Noah Pitts and Zach McKnight.

Noah Pitts also placed third in the 400 meters in 53.50.

And last, but not least, senior Emy Arbogast took seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 31 feet, 9.25 inches. She also placed eighth in the high jump Friday, clearing 4-8.

A police escort this Thursday

On Thursday, June 1, we will have some special visitors on campus to kick off the school day: the Lakewood Police Department!

The Norquist Family won the escort at an auction and two patrol cars plus the department's armored vehicle (named The Bat) will be giving the Norquist kids a ride to school, providing treats to their classmates and allowing our students the chance to explore the equipment.

So, don't be surprised if you see some police on campus Thursday morning. There is no reason to be alarmed!

The envoy is expected to be on campus at 8:05 a.m. or so.

Jones and Neff leaving this summer

Teena Jones and Mary Neff will all departing SCA this summer.

Teena has been connected with New Hope, Tacoma Baptist and Sound Christian Academy since 2005. New Hope was a school in Graham that eventually closed and Teena and her family were one of seven who took advantage of busing offered to the Tacoma campus. She has worked a variety of roles over the years and most know her as the Secondary School Administrative Assistant. She will be missed.

Mary has been at SCA for the past year as our Dean of Education. Mary brought immense public schools experience to our campus and helped establish many important classroom changes. We wish her well in her future endeavors.

It is an exciting time of change at SCA as we will be filling all three of these positions, as well as hiring and expanding our elementary classroom options. Please see all openings here and pass the word along to anyone who may be looking to work at the best Christian school in Tacoma.
