Memorial Day Service on May 26

Orange County will honor the sacrifices of America’s servicemen and women during the annual Veterans Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 26, 2025, from 8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Site, located at 2501 Homestead Drive in Chapel Hill.

The community is invited to attend this solemn tribute to those who gave their lives in service to our country. The program will include a posting of colors by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Color Guard, under the direction of Investigator Pat Gilchrist, and an invocation by Reverend Dr. George I. Allison.

Orange County’s Erosion Control and Stormwater Division (EC&S) has been awarded the Best All-Around Local Program in Erosion and Sedimentation Control by the North Carolina Sedimentation Control Commission. The recognition was presented during the Commission’s Annual Local Program Workshop and Awards Program, honoring outstanding performance among local governments.
