Hello Alumni, Parents, and Friends of CC,
Greetings from Mueller Hall! Believe it or not, I am writing to you from a couch in front of the fireplace in The Commons. This year it has a lively coffee shop vibe, and I am relishing the warmth as winter falls.
As usual, things have been busy here in CC since I last wrote: we had our CC Day celebration and weathered the chaos of election season without falling into the patterns of hyperbole, hatred, and distrust that seem to dominate our wider culture. Of course, the highlight of every fall is the First-Year Production, and this year students wowed us with a space opera entitled Spaceship Rock! We wrapped up the year with the infamous CC Christmas Symposium. Many of these events are featured below, so keep reading!
One of our hallmark fall events is the annual Lighting of the Hearth, which you might recall is traditionally preceded by a poetry contest. After the first-years wrote their poetry, the deans reviewed haiku submissions on topics ranging from CC authors and faculty to seasonal delights and stresses.
