Ankara Fabrics: Wax-Resist Patterns with Turnip Truck
FEBRUARY 12, 4:00 PM
Ankara fabrics are brightly colored cotton fabrics created through a wax-resist process called batik. Many African and African-American cultures are known for wearing these wonderful fabrics, most often during special occasions. In this workshop, make a wax resist of your own special pattern and create a bag or item to wear. For ages 12-18 in grades 7-12.
Ndebele Painted Houses with Turnip Green

The Ndebele people of southern Africa are known for their colorful painted houses. In this workshop, explore examples of painted houses, then create model houses from reuse materials and paint them in colorful styles. For ages 12-18 in grades 7-12.
