Phase 1 done—Gym here we come!
Because of your support, we reached another milestone in our capital campaign yesterday—we broke ground at our new location at St. Charles parish.
Adhering to COVID restrictions, a small group of board members, donors, staff, students, and alumni attended the groundbreaking, as well as staff from St. Charles parish, SOJ project management team, Bora Architects, and P&C Construction.
"We are grateful to the donors who said 'yes' to us early on," said DLSNC President Oscar Leong. "This was a huge task. So many things had to happen right for this project to work. Thank you for sticking with us. Because you stuck with us, we’ve made it to today. It’s a dream come true."
Jackie Dunckley added, "Thank you to our students and alumni who had faith in us. This is for you. We are all here in support of an incredible group of kids, who have incredible opportunities as a result of DLSNC."
Lech Kaiel, member of DLSNC's first graduating class in 2005, and a key contributor to the campaign said, "The model here is proven and the community is invested. There’s a lot of good work still to do. I’m excited to be here today to celebrate the school—it now has a permanent home in Portland. We’re doing what’s right here and it’s special."
We aren’t done yet—and neither are you!
For 19 years we have not had a home gym, and yet our athletics program has achieved incredible results. Our students dream of what those results could be with their own gym—on the same playing field with the same advantages as other teams. Knight Nation would finally have the home court advantage. We are so close to reaching this next milestone, and with your help, we can get there.
I’m in for the gym!
Your gift to Knight Nation today will make the dream of the gym our students deserve a reality.
