Dear friend,

We’re excited to kick off another year of speech and debate competition, and we know your students are too! Below, find the top five ways you can support your student as they get ready for tournaments this year.

1. Learn about their topics.

Whether your student is creating their own speech or competing in a debate event, chances are they are extremely passionate about the issues they’re raising. Check out our current list of debate topics and ask your speech students about their pieces.

2. Volunteer to judge!
Many coaches will be grateful for the extra help, and you’ll get to learn more about the events your students are doing. Get started by taking our free judge training course, presented by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), and reading our guide to being a great judge

3. Stay in touch with the speech and debate community on social media.

We’re constantly sharing new resources and information for the community that will help you support your student’s success!

4. Ask them about it!

We know speech and debate competitors love to talk, and they especially love to talk about their interests. Give them a chance to share their passion for the activity with you and learn more about what your student does at tournaments!

5. Provide them with resources.

With exclusive access to 2019 National Tournament competition videos, past webinars, advanced debate topic resources, and more, the Resource Package is the best way to provide your student with additional ways to improve their speech and debate skills.
