Hispanic Heritage Month happens annually from September 15 – October 15. The Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute advances, educates, and transforms students into the next generation of servant leaders in our ever-changing global society. The Institute’s academic, cultural and community programs inspire, educate, and immerse its students. The Institute encourages its students to be active members of their community, obtain on-campus leadership roles and embrace Latin America’s rich culture and history.

September 16
University President Monsignor Joseph Reilly will preside and preach at our year-opening Mass of the Holy Spirit. Classes canceled at noon- 1 p.m. Mass will take place in the University Center, Event Room.

October 13 is the voter registration deadline for the November general election. Our NPHC Voter Registration Week begins September 14.

Campus Inclusion

Located on the second floor of the University Center, the Campus Inclusion and Community Center promotes belonging, collegiality, and cultural engagement in alignment with Strategic Plan Pillar 2. The space is open Monday–Friday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., and all are welcome. Join us September 21 for Commuter Study Hall 12:30 - 4:30pm.

South Orange Downtown hosts an Outdoor Art Party & Shopping Crawl Sunday, September 20 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Fiesta en La Placita on Friday, September 25 at 7 p.m. in Spiotta Park! Join South Orange Downtown and South Orange Village for a free, family-friendly evening filled with music, dancing, great food and plenty of fun in the heart of downtown.

The Nutley Free Public Library hosts special book displays and reading materials celebrating Hispanic heritage and culture in the Children's Room and Teen Area.
Clifton hosts its Fourth Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Carnival on September 16th through 20th at Main Memorial Park.

Hispanic Heritage month:

The West Orange Hispanic Heritage Month celebration is September 17 at West Orange Town Hall.
Union Township Festival: The Hispanic & Latino Heritage Festival is scheduled for September 19, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Biertuempfel Park.
Hawthorne NJ hosts their Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Saturday October 3.
The Vernon Township 1st Annual Latin Festival takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street behind the Fire House.
