We recommend you listen to this beautiful and 'raw' version of what this has been like rather than reading on...we certainly won't blame you! Click on John below...(It is gorgeous).
We're now very close to final permit for our watersystem and bathroom expansion so hopefully we can start construction before the weather changes.  It's taken a long time and it is costing a lot of money but it is worth it and necessary so we can have a sustainable Library for the future. Thanks for your help!

Big Sur's own David Price presents:
BOGOWIE / GODS
a 2014 Polish dramatic feature film directed by Łukasz Palkowski.
The film (see trailer above) has received huge accolades throughout Europe but is yet to be distributed in the US. We are now able to see it here in Big Sur courtesy David Price!
"The extraordinary true story of brave, pioneering Polish heart transplant surgeon Zbigniew Religa in Poland in the 1980s. The Solidarity movement is on the rise but times are tough for ordinary people living under martial law, and the collapse of communismis still a long way off. This powerful, award-winning biographical drama about the man regarded as the father of Polish heart transplant surgery also focuses on the personal cost of Religa's ambition. Tomasz Kot contributes a towering central performance, ably supported by a talented ensemble cast."

Please join us for this special night! BYOB - we'll have coffee, tea and popcorn!

You wouldn’t think a film about cardiology in Poland would be such a kick, but Bogowie (“Gods” in Polish) is a fast-paced, soapy pleasure, sort of like ER or Grey’s Anatomy, but with the 1980s setting adding a judicious dollop of iron-curtain period kitsch.

Prevail: Seven Keys To Create A Personal Victory
Booksigning, talk and excersises hosted by author and long time Big Sur (South Coast) resident Beth Withrow.
From Betty:
This book is my effort to bring out the best of my experiences and offer what I have learned about life to you. Some of the stories will be shocking and horrifying, yet my purpose in telling them is to show how the transformation can occur in any setting, and this is how I learned it.

"A Hippie Love Story" is comedic theatrical and musical performance in three acts!

Presented by Candice Lori and Sam Benjamin, authors of "The Hippie Kama Sutra."

Act1     A Hippie Love Story
Act 2    Nicholas Leahy and Friends
Act 3    Molly Sarlé

This hilarious romantic saga is the story of two ganja-infused lovers, Terrycloth and Aphrodite Grass-Seed, who meet at trim camp in Humboldt County and use the Kama Sutra to open their heart chakras, and much more.
The evening will progress with respective performances by two unique musicians, Nicholas Leahy and Molly Sarlé.
Nicholas is a multi-instrumentalist from Philadelphia, PA, whose influences draw heavily from folk, blues, and bluegrass. He is a passionate and often brilliant singer-songwriter.
Molly Sarlé is musician from Santa Cruz CA. She previously made up 1/3 of the all-lady band Mountain Man, and toured the world as a back up singer for Feist. She currently lives underneath the oaks in the mountains of Big Sur.
This event is free, but donations are appreciated - by both the Library and the performers!
See you there!
Molly Sarlé will be singing at the Henry Miller Library on September 13.
