A Car-Free September!

Join BTS this month for two great events that will help you imagine your life sans car!
Join us for Park(ing) Day! On Friday, September 15, on-street parking spaces around Downtown Bethesda will be transformed into pocket parks for the day by local businesses and community groups. The goal is to re-imagine our urban landscape and to get to know one another at a pocket park!
The following Friday, September 22, BTS will be participating in Car-Free Day. Join folks around the world in this event and pledge to go car-free for one day. BTS staff will be gathered at the Bethesda Metro Plaza with our friends from Silver, giving away prizes, coffee, and transit information. Stop by from 6:30-9:00 a.m. and say hello. Also, if you take the pledge, you will receive a buy-one-get-one free coupon from Chipotle!
Go to http://carfreemetrodc.org and take the pledge!

Walk & Ride Challenge

You've been asking, and we've been hard at work on this year's Walk & Ride Challenge! This year's Challenge will be held from October 9-27, 2017, with registration starting very soon. Don't worry! You haven't missed it! We will be sending out an email letting you know when you can start registering your teams.
The Walk & Ride Challenge encourages folks working in Downtown Bethesda to team up and see who can walk the most over a three-week period. You can walk to transit, to your office, or outside to wait for your carpool pick up!
To participate, we have people who work in Downtown Bethesda form teams of between 3 and 5, give them all pedometers, and have them log their steps during the Challenge period. Prizes are awarded weekly via random drawing, and at the end of the Challenge to the three teams with the highest average step counts!

Bus Route Changes

Be sure to double check your Ride On bus route before Sunday, September 17, as many route and service changes will go into effect that day. Click here for more information about changes to Ride On Bus Service.
Also, WMATA has announced many changes to Metrobus service starting on Sunday, September 24. Click here for more information about those changes.

BTS Seeks Committee Members

The Bethesda Transportation Solutions Advisory Committee has a few vacancies that need to be filled by folks with a passion for transportation policy.
Bethesda Transportation Solutions is led by an 11-member Transportation Management District Advisory Board. The board is drawn from the business and residential communities in and around Bethesda, and it serves to advise the Montgomery County Department of Transportation and assist BUP in addressing local traffic concerns and help the community.
Click here for more details about the Advisory Committee.
Applicants interested in serving on the Advisory Committee should contact Kristen Blackmon at kblackmon@bethesda.org or call (301) 656-0868 ext. 119.
