OFF CAMPUS HOUSING SURVEY RESULTS

In May 2016, we surveyd off-campus juniors about their experiences living off-campus. Over the next several newsletters, we'll be sharing some of the insight we learned from that survey.
Overview: 391 respondents (16.08% response rate)

24-HOUR NOTICE BEFORE ENTRY:

Only 27.67% of students agreed that their landlord/property manager provided 24 hour notice prior to entering their property during non-emergency situations or requested maintenance and repair.
As we approach lease-signing season, please accept our gentle reminder it’s a good idea to put the notice in writing - via text or email - to the entire group of tenants. (Our guess is some students may forget to pass on the message to their roommates when notified alone.)

NEW FRATERNITY HOUSING POLICY

Miami’s Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is attempting to increase the involvement and participation of Fraternity chapter leadership. They plan to do this through increasing the number of junior and senior members living in the Fraternity Chapter houses.
By Fall of 2018, 40 percent of the house must be occupied by juniors and seniors. This may impact the number of people living off-campus, as fraternity juniors and seniors who previously lived in houses or apartments off-campus may be required to live in the Fraternity houses longer. For more information about this new policy, visit the Fraternity Exemption page.

LISTING SERVICE

We are excited to announce that Miami University will be hosting an online listing service for off-campus properties. Stay tuned for more information over the next six weeks.
