This mini-course will dive into how to communicate your research through poster and PowerPoint presentations. Across both sessions, participants will learn how to distill their research into a clear central message, design presentations that guide audience attention, and structure content so that figures, text, and visual elements reinforce and not compete with their main takeaway.

Washington D.C. Science Policy Trek |
|

April 8 - 10; Application Deadline: March 8 at 11:59 p.m. CST
myCHOICE is offering its Science Policy Trek to Washington D.C. Trainees will be selected to travel to Washington D.C. for several days of site visits at federal offices and non-governmental organizations, where they will learn about policy-related positions for PhD-trained scientists. Confirmed site visits include National Institutes of Health, UChicago Office of Federal Relations, Capitol Hill Visit, and a reception with D.C. Area UChicago alumni.
Eligibility: Graduate students, postdoctoral scientists, or alumni (within 1 year of departing the university) from the BSD, PSD, or PME. Preference given to individuals in their 5th year of training and beyond.
Application Requirements: Current resume, cover letters for two open positions in science policy, and a personal statement addressing your interest in science policy (2-page max). Note: Most site visits are at federal agencies where employment opportunities are restricted to citizens or permanent residents.

Feel free to join us for a drop-in session to meet fellow international graduate students and gain some company while filing taxes together. Google PhD Fellowship
Internal Nomination Deadline: April 10
The university can nominate up to four students each year for the Google PhD Fellowship, which provides up to two years of funding to support PhD research in eligible fields of study. The program was created to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional work in computer science and related research areas.

Schmidt Science Fellows Program
Internal Nomination Deadline: April 10
The university can nominate up to seven students each year for the Schmidt Science Fellows Program. The fellowship offers a stipend of $110,000 to conduct a full-time, postdoctoral research study in a field-leading laboratory, focusing on a discipline in the natural sciences, engineering, mathematics or computing that is different from their existing area of expertise and planned future focus.
In order to be eligible, individuals must have received or expect to receive a PhD between May 1, 2026 and June 30, 2027. International applicants may apply for this award.

PhRMA Foundation Predoctoral Fellowships
Deadlines: April 15 (varies by area of study)
The PhRMA Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship programs provide up to two years of stipend funding to support full-time advanced students who will have completed most of their pre-thesis requirements (at least two years of study) and be engaged in thesis research as PhD candidates by the time the award is activated. Supported areas include: drug delivery, drug discovery, translational Medicine, and value assessment and health outcomes research.
