The NYU Department of Campus Safety received two reports of attempted burglaries that occurred at 10 Astor Place, in Manhattan.
On Sunday, October 24, the NYPD responded to a report of an attempted forcible entry at 10 Astor Place. A sweep of the building was performed with no signs of an intruder. The building was secured. No items were reported missing.
An NYU employee reported that on October 29, at approximately 10:15 AM, they unlocked the door to a storage room at 10 Astor Place and discovered wood chippings on the floor as well as visible signs of an attempted forcible entry. The reporter was last in the room on October 24 at 3:30 PM. No items have been reported missing at this time.
The NYPD is actively investigating the matter.
