UF IS RECRUITING FRESHMEN AND SOPHOMORE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN HEALTH PROFESSIONS FOR 2018 SUMMER HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION PROGRAM (SHPEP)
This is an exciting program spanning the US. The University of Florida is one of 13 recipients in the U.S. of a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation award granting SHPEP status and will be accepting 80 students for its 2nd year May 14- June 22.
This 6-wk summer program is free and aims to expand horizons for racially, ethnically, and/or economically/educationally disadvantaged undergraduate students who are US citizens, permanent residents, or with DACA status, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and will be rising soph/junior students as of the start of the program next May. The program is designed to provide exposure to the various healthcare professions, academically enrich, and facilitate career development opportunities in the early formative college years.
Interested qualified students with interest in any of the healthcare professions – medicine/PA, nursing, dental, pharmacy, public health and other health professions (PT, OT, etc), veterinary medicine – should be encouraged to apply.
The national website at www.shpep.org provides necessary details and is the location where students are to be referred to read more about it and apply. Applicants are asked to select and prioritize (3) schools of interest. Applications open December 1 and close February 15.
The University of Florida has all (6) Health Science Colleges participating and may be the only school with Veterinary Medicine representation.
