Irvine Valley's Men's Tennis Team Goes Back-to-Back with Titles |
A year after staging a comeback en route to the state title, Irvine Valley's men's tennis team left no doubt during the 2026 3C2A Men's Dual Team Championship, sweeping Foothill College, 5-0, in a rematch of the 2025 version Wednesday at Ventura College. The win marks IVC's fifth state championship, all of which have come since 2015.
IVC sprinted out of the gates at No. 2 doubles with freshman Humam Alajeely and sophomore Nevin McCann breaking Foothill three times en route to a 6-0 lead. With No. 1 doubles, the Orange Empire Conference's pair of the year, freshmen Philip Neuman and Steven Anderson, held off a mid-set rally from Foothill's Abdala Quintero and Danyl Yavir. Dr. Jonathan Henderson Leads Campus Conversation on Anti-Blackness |
On April 15, the campus community gathered for a thought-provoking conversation on understanding and addressing anti-Blackness, led by Dr. Jonathan Henderson, a faculty leader, researcher, and equity practitioner with nearly 15 years of experience in higher education. Dr. Henderson opened the session by defining anti-Blackness and distinguishing it from broader concepts such as racism and bias, while highlighting how it operates across policies, practices, and campus culture. Participants also engaged in dialogue centered on the lived experiences of Black students, faculty, and staff, followed by small-group discussions to identify local challenges and opportunities for action.
