Introducing Victor E. Bot: Your 24/7 student support tool

Have you chatted with Victor E. Bot yet? It’s PSU’s newest communication tool — a text bot that provides students with a way to ask questions and address any challenges, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Victor E. Bot sent enrolled students a text message on Oct. 5. Add the number to your contacts or if you don’t want to interact with the text bot, you can opt-out by replying STOP or #pause.

Want a PhD? Apply to be a McNair Scholar

The PSU McNair Scholars Program is accepting applications for the 2024 McNair cohort. The program is open to all majors. First-generation, low-income and under-represented juniors and seniors who want to pursue PhDs are encouraged to apply. The e-Application is open now until Nov. 24.

Advocate for suicide prevention

Become part of PSU’s campus-wide team of advocates for suicide prevention. Portland State students, in partnership with SHAC and the School of Social Work, developed an asynchronous suicide prevention training course called “Care. Ask. Connect.” By participating in this free 1-hour training, you can become a vital part of PSU’s movement to increase awareness around suicide prevention and mental health.

Campus Police Chief Willie Halliburton extends an open invitation to students and employees to join him for weekly “Conversations with the Chief” on Wednesdays from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU) in Parkway North on the first floor across from the cafeteria.

Located in the newly-renovated Dirce Moroni Toulan Library on the 7th floor of the Urban Center, Gallery 770 provides an opportunity for PSU students from across campus to display their 2D art. This hidden gem is filled with light and boasts some of the best views on campus. Submit your work for consideration by October 15.

Read the PSU President's new blog

PSU President Ann Cudd recently launched a blog on her website. The president will periodically post on the blog about important issues that impact PSU students and highlight some of her activities within the community. Today, President Cudd has a new post about Indigenous Peoples’ Day where she announces the hiring of PSU’s first Tribal Liaison, a new role that will maximize opportunities for engagement with regional tribes and support PSU’s Indigenous students.
