In today's Gospel, Jesus reminds us that He did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. This teaching reflects His profound obedience to Divine Plan, showing that keeping the law is not merely an external act, but an inner commitment to God's Will. In this way, Jesus Christ gives us a clear example of the importance of faithfully following His teachings. He does not want them to simply be superficial acts that make us appear like good Christians, but rather keeping the law truly moves us to act with love and charity toward our neighbors. In this way, we can have a real encounter with Christ.
Christ emphasizes the importance of teaching these precepts with the greatest possible fidelity, originality, and truthfulness. He gave us the greatest example on the Cross—He died for the love of the truth He preached and defended with His Life. Despite knowing the danger, He was running by teaching these things, and He continued the Divine Plan. He knew that through His sacrifice, He would open the gates of Paradise once again and forever for all humanity. With His Passion, Death, and Resurrection, He would grant us salvation.

So, would we be capable of making sacrifices out of love for God and for defending the Truth? Would we be capable of drinking from the same cup that Christ drank so that others might hear about the Truth that has been revealed to us? Christ gave us an example, and our duty as Christians is to imitate Him. In this way, we can continue evangelizing a society that is increasingly moving away from God.

Grant, we pray, O Lord, that, schooled through Lenten observance and nourished by your word, through holy restraint we may be devoted to you with all our heart and be ever united in prayer. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. (Roman Missal)
