Sew Masks for Frontline Heroes
Goodwin University has been offered a tremendous opportunity to provide a valuable service to our front line partners, students, colleagues, family, and friends. St. Francis Hospital has agreed to provide us with their N99 fabric, normally used to wrap new medical equipment, so we as a community can sew it into masks and return them to the hospital for use by our front line heroes.
N99 fabric has been found to be more effective than N95 for producing protective gear. Hospitals typically dispose of this fabric, so there is an added environmental benefit to this effort!
This project is being coordinated by our 2020 Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) participants. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Matt Connell at mconnell@goodwin.edu or Allison Misky at amisky@goodwin.edu. They will provide more detailed information on the process.
When you arrive at the main academic building at One Riverside, call the security desk at 860-913-2100 or 860-836-9929, open the trunk of your vehicle, and a package will be brought to your car for contactless hand-off. The package contains the sterile fabric (pre-cut by the Goodwin manufacturing team) and sewing instructions.
Return the completed masks to One Riverside using the same contactless delivery method — call upon arrival and a member of the Goodwin team will come out to pick up the package.
The best time for pre-arranged pickups and deliveries is between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Other times possible by special arrangement.
