Career Navigator News is a bimonthly newsletter from your Career Navigator, Jami Schwickerath.

School Year Winding Down.
I have been following up with administration to see what their goals are for the next one to three and three to five years for programming and how a Career Navigator can support those goals. It is interesting to see where each district sees themselves now and what they want to obtain.

The High School hosted a Summer Job Fair on May 20th which was postponed from Spring 2020 due to Covid-19. 17 businesses showed up that were looking for: candidates to fill summer employment openings, wanting to expose students to careers and future opportunities, and wanting to connect with staff for future relationships. 500 students in grades 9-12 were able to attend this event over their lunch hour. Planning for next year includes a longer time frame for students and employers to connect.

Robert Ickler is the Agriculture Teacher and would love a greenhouse to expand his teaching and allow students to see results to lessons they are learning. A year ago, Robert was awarded monies from Compeer Financial to get things to go in the greenhouse. He has been using the four hydroponic farms he purchased and has made food! Asparagus, lettuce, herbs. Very cool things happening in this classroom!

Agriculture teacher, Lori Pagel, recently secured a partnership with CHS and creating an educational plot the students will monotor over the next several months. What an exciting opportunity for these students!

We have been in talks with Troy Haugen about the PELSB Portfolio process and what to do and what not to do. It is continually a learning process....More to come as we near the end of our year.
