INTERNATIONAL STUDENT
SUPPORT INITIATIVE (ISSI) EVENTS
| |
Introducing the International Student Support Initiative (ISSI)!We are really excited to announce that the Office of Global Services (OGS) and the Center for Student Life (CSL) are strengthening our ongoing international student and scholar support programs, events, and resources by forming the International Student Support Initiative (ISSI), a centralized, coordinated, and comprehensive hub.
ISSI is dedicated to not only support international students and scholars at NYU, but also to provide resources and expertise to create academic, co-curricular, and social opportunities for sustained, cross-cultural learning. As part of this cross-cultural learning, ISSI aims to create intentional pathways for the successful integration of domestic and international students, build intercultural humility and competence across the University, and contribute to advocacy efforts in regards to critical state and national policies that impact international communities.
We're retiring our Happening Around NYU newsletter to international students and replacing it with this biweekly ISSI newsletter. We look forward to continued collaborations and expanded offerings to the NYU community, which will always be promoted in this newsletter! If you're in a student club and would like to promote your event to international students, email ogs-communications-group@nyu.edu.

Pulsing with infectious beats, electrifying choreography, and breathtaking joy, KPOP is an all-consuming multimedia experience that explores the relentless discipline, raw talent, and commercial ambition behind the heart-thumping international phenomenon.

Philadelphia Orchestra at Carnegie Hall
The Philadelphia Orchestra and Yannick Nézet-Séguin continue their fruitful musical partnership with exceptional pianist Beatrice Rana, who performed with this orchestra during her debut season at Carnegie Hall. Le tombeau de Couperin is a standout piece by Ravel, originally composed for piano in 1917 and lavishly orchestrated by the composer in 1919. Like much of her oeuvre, C. Schumann’s sole piano concerto stands the test of time and makes us long for more. Price’s Symphony No. 3—a well-respected yet under-performed work from the exceptional 20th-century American composer—continues The Philadelphia Orchestra’s ongoing exploration of her symphonies. Ravel’s Boléro, always a favorite, ends the evening with its unforgettable tune.

One To World Community Visit
Experience a day in the life of an NYC local! For this day-long event, you'll be paired with a New York resident, and together you'll explore their favorite things to do in the city. In the past, our hosts have taken students to visit their home, shared lunch at a restaurant in their neighborhood, walked the Brooklyn Bridge, explored an art gallery, and much more. This is a great opportunity to go beyond the famous sites of the city and learn about New York life and culture through the eyes of the people who live here.
