As we draw near to Thanksgiving, I want to express my gratitude to God for all of you. Everywhere I go, I tell people of this life-giving church that loves God and our neighbors well. For the eighteenth consecutive year, I want to invite you to share in the Lord's Supper as an expression of our gratitude on Saturday night and Sunday morning November 21-22. We will have a chance to express our gratitude in sentence testimonies and then coming to the Lord's table.
Some weeks ago, we thought together about hope in our worship services. This theme struck a chord with me and with several of you. We are tempted to despair. Can we believe there is hope for our world? For what do we hope this Christmas? In our Advent worship series this year we want to focus on the theme of Hoping for Christmas. Starting on November 29, we will light the Advent Candles as we center our thoughts on the hope we have in Christ. Please plan to join us each week as we light a candle in holy anticipation of the Christ Candle in our Christmas Eve services at 4:30, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m.
As we come to the close of our year focusing on relationships with God and each other, we prepare to work on our third objective, "Making an Impact," in 2016. We will think together about the life of Christ leading into Easter. Then we will spend the year considering the impact of our church on a changing world. As our country prepares for an election, we will remember our election in Christ and worship our only King, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Joyfully,
Duane
