This week we present the next tip in our "What's Working" video series created by UNCG instructors, for UNCG instructors. Each video will be under 5 minutes and features tips you can immediately implement in your classroom.
In this week's video, Assistant Professor of Kinesiology, Judy Fowler, shares several examples of using collaborative concept maps to help students make connections between conceptual knowledge and factual knowledge and engage in metacognitive reflection about their learning in the course. This is a great way to start conversations with your students and check for understanding in a low-stakes setting. | Engagement Opportunity | High-Impact Practices Open Space
The Chancellor is making a new resource available to the campus as part of the process underway in shaping our future as a university. Working with a local consultant, we will use the Open Space process to engage in the many important discussions underway. We are inviting Provost divisional faculty and staff who support, and/or have interest in student learning through High Impact Practices (HIPs) to participate in an upcoming opportunity on Friday, April 21, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (more details available in the registration form). A minimum of 50 participants is necessary for this event to occur so please register by April 6.

Reminder | URSCO Faculty Fellows Call for Applications
The Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creativity Office (URSCO) seeks 3 UNCG teaching faculty and/or staff members to serve as URSCO Faculty Fellows for the 2023-24 academic year to integrate research-skills and/or experiences into first- and second-year undergraduate courses, especially those that serve UNCG’s General Education program (Minerva’s Academic Curriculum). Summer Faculty Fellow Support available. Application deadline is Friday, April 21, 2023.
