As part of Walsh University’s Year of Faith and in celebration of the 65th anniversary of its founding, the campus community is invited to a Presidential Thought Leadership Series Fireside Chat with President Tim Collins and Dr. Kevin Roberts on Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrette Business & Community Center. Dr. Roberts, an American historian and recognized scholar in Catholic higher education, will join President Collins to explore how faith and reason intersect in Catholic education, shaping students into engaged citizens prepared for lives of purpose and service. This week we celebrate St. John Henry Newman, recently named by Pope Leo XIV as the patron saint of education rooted in the Catholic tradition. As one of only 16 US-based colleges recommended in the Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, Walsh University is proud to welcome students like Michael Yarber, who has discovered his life purpose here. FAFSA Help & Pumpkin Spice, Nov. 8 |
Students and families are invited to stop by the David Center on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. to enjoy pumpkin spice and get one-on-one FAFSA assistance from our financial aid staff. Bring a personal device, Social Security number, FSA ID, valid email address, and 2024 tax returns. (If a parent is not present, only the student portion can be completed.) The FAFSA for the upcoming academic year is open now, and early filing helps you maximize aid opportunities — many grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Current students, new students, and parents are all welcome!

International Flag Ceremony, Nov. 20 |
Walsh University will celebrate its international students during the annual International Flag Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Toot Global Learning Center. This year, Walsh’s student body represents 36 countries, including the United States, with 123 international students. Twenty-five are new or transfer students, 14 are participating in post-graduation Optional Practical Training (OPT), and Iraq and Uzbekistan return to the ceremony after several years’ absence. Hosted by the World Student Organization (WSO) and the Office for Culture and Belonging, students will carry their national flags across the stage, followed by a group photo. The program will include musical performances by the Walsh University Chorale and a traditional Nepali dance. Supported by Director Megan Huston, Coordinator Katherine Rivera, and the International Ambassadors, the International Flag Ceremony provides an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of international students on campus.

2nd International AI Conference, Nov. 22 |
Join scholars, educators and innovators from around the world for the 2nd International AI Conference, hosted online by Walsh University in partnership with the University of Cape Coast (Ghana) and Notre Dame University–Louaize (Lebanon) on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Chaired by Dr. Amy J. Heston, this no-cost virtual event offers an inspiring look at how AI is shaping education, research, and the common good across borders. The campus community is also encouraged to explore Inspirations in AI Innovation, Volume 1, Walsh University’s peer-reviewed publication showcasing global AI scholarship, as we look ahead to Volume 2 arriving in spring 2026. | Read More (PDF)

9/11 Survivor and Inspirational Author Genelle Guzman-McMillan Coming to Campus Dec. 2 |
Walsh University will host Genelle Guzman-McMillan, the final survivor pulled from the World Trade Center rubble on September 11, 2001, for a powerful presentation on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the Cecchini Center Auxiliary Gym. Trapped for 27 hours before her miraculous rescue, Genelle shares a gripping testimony of faith, resilience, and hope that continues to impact audiences around the world. A reception and book signing will follow for her memoir, Angel in the Rubble.

Independent College Mascot Day |
Walsh University was one of 23 independent colleges represented at Independent College Mascot Day last week at the Ohio Statehouse. Hosted by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio (AICUO), the event highlighted the importance of Ohio’s independent higher education institutions, including their academic excellence, impact on local economies, and strong contributions to the state’s workforce. The First-Ever Hoover Haunt, Oct. 31 |
Join us for a fun and spooky Halloween experience featuring Halloween games, a haunted hayride, and the first-ever Hoover Haunt Haunted House, sponsored by Crafty Cavs and Student Activities. The event will take place on Friday, Oct. 31, from 8 to 10 p.m. in the Larry Staudt Field gravel lot and at Hoover Hall in Hoover Park, just across from campus. Start the evening with Halloween games in the gravel lot near Larry Staudt Field, then take the Haunted Hayride to the Hoover Haunt for a thrilling walkthrough filled with surprises and treats for those who dare to enter. Bring your friends and enjoy a memorable Halloween night together!
