Dear St. Michael’s Families,
We gather each day at St. Michael’s to build a vibrant community through shared learning, growth, and meaningful work. Our dress code is one of the ways we help create an environment where every student feels a sense of belonging and school pride.
There are many positive reasons for implementing a school uniform. A consistent uniform dress code encourages students to express their individuality through their character, creativity, and academic accomplishments rather than outward appearance. It helps reduce the daily stress of outfit choices and lessens the social pressures of fashion trends, allowing students to focus more fully on learning and relationships. Clear, shared expectations also promote consistency and fairness of dress code enforcement for students and teachers alike.
In general, students should arrive at school neat, clean, and well-groomed, wearing clothing that is clean, properly fitting, and in good repair. Students are expected to adhere to the dress code from arrival until the end of the school day unless otherwise instructed. As with so much at St. Michael’s, the dress code works best when families, students, and the school partner closely together.
As previously shared, we have selected Lands’ End as our preferred uniform vendor due to their quality, strong customer service, and wide range of styles, fits, and fabric options. Their products are well-made, comfortable, and guaranteed for life.
Lands’ End has created a dedicated St. Michael’s School Store for our families, and the link may be found HERE. All items ship to your home.
While it is preferable that families purchase directly from Lands’ End to ensure items meet our uniform dress code requirements, we recognize that families may choose to shop elsewhere. If an item is indistinguishable from the approved Lands’ End version, it will meet dress code expectations.
Please note that ALL St. Michael’s students will be required to have one cobalt blue long-sleeved polo with the St. Michael’s logo for special dress days. We are also pleased to continue our Spiritwear Fridays, when students may wear any St. Michael’s spiritwear shirt, sweatshirt, or hoodie (i.e., above the waist spiritwear items) with uniform bottoms.
For your convenience, we have created a
Daily Apparel Guide that clearly outlines daily uniform requirements and options.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we take this next step together.
Kindly,
Bob Gregg, Head of School
