As a parent, there are many moments in your children's life that are filled with pride and joy, as well as unexpected situations that can challenge your beliefs or preferences. Last week, I found myself in one of those situations, when my son called to tell me that he was getting a tattoo.
I was not at all surprised by his call, as he mentioned quite a few times over the summer that he wanted to get one. As a mom, I know that part of my job is to respect his choices even if I don’t agree with them, but I wasn’t expecting to have so many complex emotions about this particular choice. I've never been a fan of tattoos; in fact, I've always had reservations about them. I knew that striking the right balance between being supportive and expressing my honest feelings was going to be very difficult - especially after he told me what it would be. ... KEEP READING

The Many Faces of Magnesium
Magnesium is one of the most important nutrients in our bodies but is often overlooked by modern medicine. There are few adequate dietary sources for it and must be supplemented for it to perform its more than 300 different roles in our body. As there are many uses for magnesium, there are also many forms of it, which is often confusing to the customer entering our store. I thought it would be helpful to highlight some of the most common forms recommended to an individual.
As stress & anxiety levels have been elevated for the past few years, a need has arisen to be able to relax our brains. 2 forms, Magnesium Glycinate or Magnesium Taurinate, can cross the Blood Brain Barrier to form GABA, a relaxing neurotransmitter, and aid in relieving anxiety, promoting REM sleep. Magnesium Citrate is a form that is quickly absorbed and is very helpful for the person who has a tendency of being constipated.
Another commonly recommended form is Magnesium Malate which has muscle relaxing properties without causing loose stools and is very helpful for active individuals who exercise or overexercise routinely. Magnesium Threonate, or NeuroMag, is a form of Magnesium that increases energy production in the brain cells, decreasing inflammation and improving focus. This is an invaluable nutrient for the ADD/ADHD patient or someone who has had a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
As always, consult a knowledgeable healthcare professional to select your dose and form of Magnesium as it will be key to the success of the product and your conditions.
