Next DYAC Meeting:
The next Dairy Youth Advisory Committee meeting is Tuesday, March 25, 2025, 7:30 p.m., at the Dodge County Extension Office. All are welcome. Dairy youth can earn points on their dairy-activity cards for attending.
Dairy judging
Coaches Brock Irwin, Matthew Gunst, and Scott Stanford are gearing up for the 2025 dairy-judging season. This skill counts for points on your dairy-activity card. Comments from last week's survey are being reviewed; coaches will use the information to determine the best day of the week for practice, a beginning date, and participation interest.
Our first practice of the year will be held at the Watertown Library, 100 S. Water St., Watertown (Watch for a date.). This will be a classroom-based session where coaches will cover the fundamentals before heading to the barn the following week. The group will review cow parts, judging basics, juniors understanding TAQ questions, and seniors diving deep into reasons format and terminology. Everyone is looking forward to a fantastic 2025 season!

This year, we have three main categories: Demonstrations: In this category, speakers will engage the audience by showing and doing. Participants will perform live demonstrations to explain a process, technique, or concept. Expect hands-on activities and interactive presentations that bring the topic to life. Illustrated Talks: This category focuses on the use of visual aids. Speakers will rely on charts, pictures, and detailed descriptions to convey their message. Speaking: This category is all about the art of verbal expression. Whether it's an original speech, an interpretive reading, an extemporaneous speech, or captivating storytelling, this category highlights the power of words and the skill of the speaker.
