On Wednesday, July 23, the NYU Department of Campus Safety received a report of a Motor Vehicle Theft of an electric scooter that occurred at 8:24 a.m. This incident occurred at Schwartz Hall, located at 345 East 24th Street, in Manhattan.
The complainant, an NYU Dental patient, reported that they locked their e-scooter to the railing around a tree near the main entrance to Schwartz Hall on Wednesday, July 23rd, at 8:00 a.m. When they returned at 11:49 a.m., they realized the e-scooter was stolen. A security camera review showed the theft occurred at 8:24 a.m.
The complainant declined to file a police report with the NYPD.
Below is a photo of the individual observed during a security camera review. The individual approached traveling west on East 24th Street from First Avenue, used a power tool to cut the lock, and took the e-scooter. The individual returned to First Avenue, traveling north, before turning onto East 25th and continuing west.
