Hello Volunteer!
I hope that you've been staying safe and healthy since my last email, and had the chance to do some birding in your neighborhood or local park. I've heard a lot of cool stories about volunteers seeing spring migrants at their bird feeders, and it seems like a lot more folks are getting out and enjoying nature in their own neighborhoods and backyards. At the end of all this we may just learn to better appreciate and protect the green spaces that surround us.

As you may have heard, we have re-opened our sanctuaries (more about that here), and with the help of a few dedicated volunteers who've been working independently have been able to keep things in pretty good shape. However, most of our in-person volunteer activities are still on hold, and we've got a lot of work to catch up on. I am hoping that we can start scheduling volunteer events again for this summer, but the health and safety of our volunteers is our biggest priority, so we will only do so once we feel confident that we are not putting you at risk.

I am currently working with our team on developing plans for our volunteer program going forward, and am hoping to offer more opportunities for folks to support our work independently and remotely, as well as planning in-person activities that can be performed within CDC guidelines, and should have some options for you in next month's email.
I'd love to hear back from you, as a volunteer, if you have any suggestions or ideas on ways that we can all be making a difference for birds from our homes.
Thanks for all that you do to support our mission.
With Warmest Regards,

Lauren Miheli, CVA
