Plant a Color-Filled Kids' Garden!

Gardens and landscapes are nature’s very own classrooms for kids, and color is its most dynamic lesson! Color is everywhere—from spring’s green leaves to fall’s burnished red leaves.

This week, we're sharing ways you can use azaleas to engage and enchant little gardeners!

Your reblooming Encore Azaleas pack a colorful punch in the garden... and can continue their cheery display as an indoor arrangement!  Trim blooming branches with your kids and bring those blooms inside for a lesson on flower staying power.  Pair cut flowers and greens together to talk about complementary and contrast colors, and take a "color stroll" through the yard, pointing out all of the shapes, colors, and textures that nature shows us.

Teach the role color plays in pollination. Did you know that purples, violets and whites are favorites of pollinating pals such as bees? Learn what those dots of color near the flowers’ throat means to insects that spot them. You’ll find Autumn Amethyst, Autumn Angel, Autumn Lilac and Autumn Royalty are brimming with bee-approved colors.

Read on for more suggestions and engaging outdoor "lessons" your garden can teach children!
