Dear GW Community,
As summer winds down and we kick off the 2023 fall semester, we are excited to see many familiar faces back on campus and welcome new faces to our community. In this month's edition of GWell, we share helpful resources to support your overall health and well-being and invite you to join our Well-being Wednesday and Financial Well-being events.
In addition, you will find information on how to create or modify your will, details regarding the new Talkspace Televideo feature available through the GW EAP, an opportunity to refresh your benefit knowledge as well as reminders for updating your work location and using any remaining annual time carryover. Don’t forget to check out opportunities to connect 1:1 with our benefit vendor partners.
If you have questions about any of the benefits featured in GWell or other benefits programs, please contact us at benefits@gwu.edu.

National Make A Will Month
|
|
|
August is National Make-A-Will Month and more than half of American Adults currently do not have this important document in place. A will is a legal document that coordinates the distribution of your assets after death and can appoint guardians for minor children. If you need to make or update a will, now is a great time to start. Below are some TIAA, Fidelity, and EAP resources that can help you.

Preventive care can help support your health and help you prevent or avoid illness. Besides annual check-ups, preventive care also includes immunizations and screenings such as eye exams. It’s different than diagnostic care, which focuses on treating symptoms and risk factors.
Ready to schedule your next appointment? Make sure to choose a network provider. GW's medical plans are designated under Choice Plus. You’ll usually pay $0 out-of-pocket for covered exams.

As a benefits-eligible employee, you are automatically enrolled in Health Advocate at no cost. Through this program, employees can confidentially message personal health advocates familiar with your GW benefits package. Advocates can provide answers to questions spanning a wide range of topics including but not limited to explaining medical conditions, finding treatments, locating doctors, and resolving claims and billing issues.
Try out their services by August 31st and enter to win a Fit Bit Charge 5! Please note the value of winnings is taxable and will be included in employee’s payroll.

Final call to use your annual time carryover by August 31st! Taking time off is a great way to rest and recharge, spend time visiting with family and friends, or even prioritize those home projects you may have been putting off throughout the year.
We encourage you to check your time off balance and view the time off and leave policy. Any annual time carryover must be used by August 31, 2023, so make sure to discuss your remaining time off with your manager for submission and approval by the deadline. Employees can view our time off tips and reminders for additional assistance.

Review/Update Your Fall Semester Work Location

|
|
As we approach the start of the Fall 2023 semester, please ensure your work location address is up to date in GWeb. Work location is the physical location where you work more than 50% of the time. A correct work location address guarantees that you are eligible for applicable benefits in the state where you work.
Follow these step-by-step instructions and FAQs to help review and update your work address. If you have recently moved states, please remember to also update your tax withholding forms.
