First Registered Student Willis “Bill” Rambo ’64 Returns to Walsh University 60 Years Later to Deliver Commencement Address and Receive Honorary Doctorate |
The 2024 Commencement Ceremonies at Walsh University will be special indeed. Not only will the University be recognizing the Class of 2024, who did not receive a traditional high school graduation ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the first graduating class of 1964. In a full circle moment, Walsh University is pleased to announce that Willis “Bill” Rambo ’64, known for being Walsh’s first registered student, will return to deliver the 2024 Commencement Address and receive an Honorary Doctorate of Business during graduation exercises set for Saturday, May 4, 2024. 2024 Commencement Schedule and Ticket Information |
The University will host two ceremonies, the first at 8:30 a.m., for the DeVille School of Business and the School of Behavioral and Health Sciences. The second ceremony will be at 2:45 p.m., for graduates of the Byers School of Nursing and the School of Arts, Sciences and Education. Both ceremonies will be held in the Cecchini Health and Wellness Complex, Alumni Arena. A Baccalaureate Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel.

Dr. Pamela Ritzline, Dean of the School of Behavioral and Health Sciences, has announced her retirement at the conclusion of the current academic year. She has been at the helm of the school since its inception in 2016, playing a pivotal role in its growth and success. Dr. Judy Kreye, Dean of the Byers School of Nursing will also serve as Interim Dean of the School of Behavioral and Health Sciences for one year while the University considers options moving forward. Dr. Bernadette Schmeltz Appointed Interim Program Chair of Occupational Therapy |

Walsh University has appointed Dr. Bernadette Schmeltz as the Interim Program Chair of Occupational Therapy within the School of Behavioral and Health Sciences. Dr. Schmeltz brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role, where she will oversee the graduate programs in occupational therapy, including the master's, post-professional doctorate, and new entry-level doctorate programs. With over 23 years of clinical practice as an occupational therapist, Dr. Schmeltz's appointment underscores Walsh University's commitment to excellence in healthcare education. Read More

DeVille School of Business Secures Second Consecutive Victory in CFA Institute Research Challenge |
Walsh University's DeVille School of Business proudly announces its second consecutive win in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge. The team, led by Sam Krakowski, Isaac O'Rielley, Javier Sanchez, Barbara Russo, and Americo Levak, emerged victorious, leaving John Carroll University in a distant second place. The competition was fierce, but our team's dedication and expertise shone through, propelling them to victory once again. With this win, Walsh advances to the next round in March with confidence and determination. Read More

The Education Club is sponsoring an Easter Egg Event on Wednesday, March 20, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the Toot Global Learning Center. The free community event for children ages 2–12 includes a visit from the Easter Bunny, Easter egg hunt, pin the tail on the bunny, crafts, games, and a coloring contest. RSVP here by March 5. The Student Occupational Therapy Association Club invites you to a Community BINGO Night fundraising event on Friday, March 22, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Barrette Business and Community Center. Whether you are a seasoned bingo enthusiast or new to the game, this event is open to everyone, including family, friends, and community members. Enjoy multiple rounds of BINGO and vie for prizes generously donated by local businesses and sponsors. Professor Jennifer Vokoun, Director of the Center for Sustainable Food Design and an Associate Professor of Graphic Design was a guest lecturer at Washington University in St. Louis for the Design in Social Systems class, on Wednesday, Feb. 21. This course is an interdisciplinary group of students who explore the processes that artists and designers use to address, influence, and inspire change around systemic social issues. Professor Vokoun led students through an experiential lecture on sustainable food design and a workshop on mapping the campus food system.

This weekend at Walsh University was filled with fun events that showcased talent, culture, and community spirit. The inaugural WUs Got Talent show brought together a packed house, where contestants wowed with their remarkable performances. Robby Klockner's original song earned him the Judge’s Choice award, while Alisha Khatri's dance performance inspired by her Nepali heritage won her the Fan Favorite title. On Sunday, music filled the Toot Global Learning Center during the Winter Band Performance from the Walsh Concert Band and Walsh World Music Ensemble. Later, Soul Food Sunday, hosted by the Walsh University Black Student Union and Office of Culture & Belonging, celebrated Black excellence with soulful cuisine, engaging discussions, and vibrant performances, fostering unity and appreciation for the African American diaspora. The event featured Keynote Speaker Crystal Good, the Brothers of Omega Psi Phi featuring Walsh University Alumnus Myles Williams, Rikwon Moore, and Thomas Wilks, as well as YADAH Praise Dancer Tullis White Jr. from New Greater Peace Church.
