Let me introduce you to Jayden, a determined 7th grader at Jamestown Middle, is a shining example of what determination, resilience, and extra support can achieve. Jayden joined Operation XCEL’s 3 Steps Ahead Summer Camp last summer to get early access to the 6th-grade curriculum. At the time of his enrollment at Operation Xcel, Jayden’s was failing in Math. But with the unwavering spirit of a valid learner, he refused to let those challenges dictate his potential. Jayden made it a personal goal to improve his mastery skill level in Math. Although he struggled with Math in the past, he worked hard over the summer and enrolled in Operation Homework Operation Xcel's after-school program when school started.
Although his grades were passing at times, Jayden remained focused, never giving up on his goal of raising his math scores to master the material consistently. When his math grade dropped to an "F”, Jayden agreed to attend intensive tutoring and sacrificed some enrichment time. By the end of the second quarter, Jayden had significantly improved his math grade from an "F" of 54 to a "B" with a score of 80, thanks to intensive tutoring. In Quarter 3, he continued to excel, achieving an "A" grade of 90. By the end of the academic year, he maintained his success with a "B" grade of 86 in Quarter 4, demonstrating his dedication and progress in mathematics. The staff at Operation Xcel-Jamestown continuously commend Jayden's leadership and independent decision-making. We could not be prouder!
Our organization's mission is to academically, socially, physically, and emotionally equip learners like Jayden. Through stories like Jayden's, we witness the realization of our vision - a place where learners are inspired to excel in every facet of their lives and to effect meaningful changes in the world.
On this Giving Tuesday, I invite you to participate in this transformative journey. Your support will ensure we continue promoting excellent communities, education, and leadership. It will ensure that many more Evans find their path, reach their potential, and inspire others with their stories. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can continue to create stories of excellence.
Warm regards,
Charlene Gladney
