Our New Initiative in Response to COVID-19
You've seen our deliveries of emergeny food and supplies to our 49 artisan partners and their families. Bags full of foods such as corn for tortillas and sanitary supplies such as handgel, went out to our six partner communities in response to the pandemic in Guatemala (article written by our partner, Pionero Philanthropy). While these efforts were necessary, we knew we needed to do more.
Our Executive Director, Misty, Programs Coordinator, Marisol, and Agricultural Technician, Amarilis, collaborated together to design and finalize a new project for a few of the communities we partner with. We will be safely inititiating family gardens to grow an array of vegetables in the communities. This way, families will need to leave their homes less to travel to the market, and will have organic, healthy produce to add to their diets. We can't wait to share more of our progress with you through these next few months!
This project is proudly supported by four inspiring donors: Daniele Agostino Derossi Foundation, Fresh Leaf Foundation, GoPhilantrophic Foundation, and Richard Bongiovanni. Want to support our Maya Traditions too? Check out our website or reach out to Misty at communications@mayatraditions.org.
