The start of summer means the Westfield Farmer's Market is in full swing. Hope to see you there!
|
With Memorial Day behind us, it is the unofficial start of summer, and we’re excited to share a new edition of Westfield Connect—highlighting how Community Health Network is continuing to build connections across this growing community.
You may have already seen our teams out and about at the Westfield Farmer’s Market, where we’re proud to serve as the presenting sponsor this season. Each week, our caregivers are connecting with neighbors, sharing health information and resources, and helping families learn more about the care available right here in Westfield.
In this issue, you’ll also hear from our local pediatricians as they offer helpful guidance on managing seasonal allergies—just in time for warmer weather and more time spent outdoors. And we’re pleased to introduce new regional presidents who will help lead Community’s continued growth and commitment to high-quality, accessible care across Central Indiana.
Thank you for staying connected with us. Whether at community events, in our care locations, or through updates like this, we’re grateful to be part of the Westfield community and look forward to all that summer will bring.

As May comes to a close, Community Health Network pediatricians in Westfield are seeing a seasonal mix of late colds and rising allergy symptoms as trees and plants continue to bloom.
For parents, this time of year can be confusing. Many conditions share similar symptoms, but knowing the difference is important because treatments vary.
To help parents sort it out, Dr. Amanda Asbury and Dr. Michael Zimmerman share what they’re seeing right now—and how to tell the difference—in a short video (above).
Tips to remember:
|
- Seasonal allergies are uncommon in children under age 2–3
-
Fever usually signals an infection—not allergies
- Over-the-counter cough and cold medicines are not recommended for children under 6
- Saline rinses can help relieve congestion safely
- If symptoms persist or you’re unsure what your child is experiencing, their doctor can help guide next steps.
|
Our Westfield pediatricians are here to partner with you—listening to your concerns, evaluating symptoms and helping determine the best course of action so your child can feel better, faster. You can schedule an appointment by clicking the button below.

A lot of progress at the new Community Hospital Westfield
|
|
| The new hospital is taking shape!

Construction on the new Community Hospital Westfield continues to make strong progress. Inside the north building and patient tower, framing is well underway on the first two floors, with inspections already in progress on the second floor. Overhead work and fireproofing are advancing on the third floor, the fourth‑floor layout is complete, and the penthouse level has finished slab work with framing ongoing. Roofing is also being installed above the sixth floor and penthouse, and exterior work on the tower’s west side has begun, with substantial completion expected in July.
Across the site, curbs and sidewalks are taking shape in the west parking lot, and crews are actively constructing the hospital’s permanent south entrance. During this phase, all traffic is being routed through the north entrance while new curbs are installed along the south drive.

Derek McMichael, president of the northwest region, which includes the new growing Westfield campus.
|
Community Health Network has announced the appointment of four regional presidents as part of its regional operating model, including Derek McMichael, who will serve as president of the Northwest Region—home to Community Howard Regional Health and the growing Westfield campus.
This regional approach is designed to keep decision-making close to the communities served while strengthening alignment across hospitals and services. Regional presidents partner closely with hospital leaders and physicians to advance quality, improve access to care and support long-term growth.
For the Westfield community, Derek McMichael’s leadership, such as his continued role on the Board of Directors for the Westfield Chamber of Commerce. brings a strong emphasis on local engagement and partnership. He will play an active role in building relationships with community organizations, civic leaders and local stakeholders to ensure Community’s services continue to reflect the needs and priorities of Westfield residents.
As part of that commitment, Derek McMichael will participate in the Westfield Chamber’s upcoming State of Healthcare event—an opportunity to connect directly with community members, share insights on the future of healthcare in the region and listen to perspectives from local leaders and businesses. His involvement underscores Community Health Network’s focus on being an active, visible partner in the places it serves.
Across all regions, the new leaders bring a shared focus on collaboration, community connection and strong local leadership—ensuring each hospital remains deeply rooted in its community while advancing systemwide pr

Community care teams at the Westfield Farmer's Market
|
The Westfield Farmer’s Market is buzzing — and Community Health Network’s care teams are right in the heart of it. As the presenting sponsor for the summer season, our teams from the Westfield Medical Office Building are on site each week, meeting neighbors and sharing resources to support healthier living.
During the first two weeks alone, our caregivers connected families with our pediatric and primary care providers and shared helpful education on women’s health, including how our menopause and perimenopause services can support women through every stage of life.
These meaningful, one‑on‑one conversations are exactly what fuel our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.
And we’re just getting started. Over the next month, market‑goers can expect to meet members of our women’s health, pulmonary, orthopedics, sports medicine, and pediatric teams. If you’re at the market, stop by and say hello — we love seeing our Westfield neighbors thrive.
